Agile Yorkshire is a monthly gathering of IT professionals from in and around Yorkshire. It has met every month since 2007 to discuss Agile software development methods and Extreme Programming (XP) plus a host of other IT issues. The group is dedicated to sharing experience and guidance that may help transform software organisations towards greater effectiveness.

Agile Yorkshire's monthly gatherings provide a platform for local practitioners to network, learn from each other and listen to some of the IT industries highest profile speakers.

Monthly gatherings are FREE and open to all. They are informal and friendly with plenty of opportunity for discussion and chat. We try to provide drinks and food beforehand and adjourn to a local pub to continue the discussions afterwards.

2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm. Presentations start @ 7:00pm and finish promptly at 9:00. See our Event pages for more details.

Agile Yorkshire always takes place in a professional setting with modern audio visual equipment and at a city centre location. After starting in a pub, over the years we've moved around a bit. See our venue page for full location details and travel directions.

Over the years Agile Yorkshire has attracted some of information technologies most renowned gurus. Anyone who makes a presentation at one of our gatherings will be following in the footsteps of many well known authors and thought leaders within the software industry. That said Agile Yorkshire also exists as a platform for local practitioners and each month a shorter speaking slot is filled by someone from within the community.

Meetings are generally fully subscribed and attract around 50 people in a friendly mix from development, testing, product management, design and leadership roles. Personal development and continued learning are the common denominator.

If you are a visiting industry luminary considering a trip to the north and would like to combine a little business with pleasure, please take a moment to consider these facts about our region:

  • Leeds is the third largest city outside London (British urban pattern: population data).

  • Its the “UK's largest centre for legal, and financial services outside London” (NOMIS, 2010).

  • The UK Headquarters for Walmart, Morrisons, First Direct, Orange and Jet2 are in Leeds or Bradford.

  • Leeds has been described as the “Knightsbridge of the North” (Lonely Planet 2005).

  • Yorkshire contains three of the UK’s National Parks and is within striking distance of a couple more.

All speakers can expect coverage though the Agile Yorkshire website and social media as well as helpful audience feedback.

If you would like to speak at an Agile Yorkshire monthly gathering we are always on the lookout for "on topic" ideas from anyone. Please take a look at the Agile Yorkshire Speaker Information Booklet and drop an email to info@agileyorkshire.org.

Without the time and energy donated from within the community Agile Yorkshire would fade and die. The current organisers and volunteers are listed here on our Team page.
