Event Speakers Bootcamp - Friday 20th February 1:30pm - 4:00pm
Post date: Jan 12, 2015 3:51:52 PM
If you're booked to speak at one of Agile Yorkshire's monthly meetups, or maybe you've submitted a conference proposal, we want to help you blossom. The workshop will give you tips for success, help polish your presentation style and make you pitch like a pro. The session is run by Ivor Tymchak, the Bettakultcha compère and past winner of the Agile Yorkshire Lightning Talks Competition. Ivor has been to Agile Yorkshire meetups, he knows what they're like, he knows about the subject matter and he knows about engaging slides because he's also a designer and artist.
The Agile Yorkshire Event Speakers Bootcamp is a workshop to help you become the best technology speaker you can be.
Discount for Future (and Past) Agile Yorkshire Speakers
We want to support and encourage our community speakers to be the best they can be. We want our speakers to go forth and spread the word that Yorkshire is a hotbed of software engineering talent. We want meet ups throughout the region to benefit and help raise the bar for what a community group can be.
For all those reasons there is a HUGE DISCOUNT for past and future Agile Yorkshire speakers. If you've ever presented at an Agile Yorkshire event including our Lightning Talk Competition or have been accepted for a future date, you're entitled to the discount price. If you think you'd like to speak at a future event and come to the workshop to help prepare, that's OK too. Just send us a topic suggestion to email@example.com If your suggestion is accepted you can get the discount.
About the Workshop
Ivor Tymchak has been running this Presentations Skills workshop in various organisations throughout the country. It is a direct result of the Bettakultcha phenomenon that started in Leeds and is now regularly held in many cities in the North.
The two hour workshop covers all the essential aspects of making a good presentation from owning the stage, props, stories, slides and understanding why you're making a presentation in the first place.
The workshop will be an interactive one so attendees need to be prepared to stand up and talk to the group with improvised speeches. A summary of the main points will be supplied in a free pdf after the workshop so very few notes need be taken during the session.
Ivor is a freethinker, artist and professional speaker. He compères Bettakultcha and sometimes does stand-up comedy. His overriding concern as a human being is considering the question 'how should we live?'
