Call for December Lightning Talk Speakers

posted 23 Aug 2013, 04:46 by Royd Brayshay   [ updated 16 Oct 2013, 03:29 ]

Its an Agile Yorkshire Xmas tradition to look within our members for the December meetup content and stage an evening of fun and Lightning Talks
We're starting early by sending out this call for speakers while the clocks are still set to  British Summer Time and not even Xmas cards are in the shops. We want to make it as easy as possible to participate by giving a LOT of time and some help to speakers who come forward. Basically you have over thee months to prepare and its only ten minutes.

CLOSING FRIDAY 18TH OCTOBER

Even if you only have the vaguest of ideas, now is the time to start your career as a speaker. If you're not sure what you’re letting your self in for this may help. A ten minute Lightning Talk for Agile Yorkshire's December 2013 meetup should:
  • Probably have a maximum of four slides (maybe none).
  • Be on a topic you already know quite well.
  • Be interesting to our audience but could be about pretty much anything.
  • Be possible to completely script (if that’s your style).
  • Not be a second more than ten minutes.
  • Win you a SIGNIFICANT prize on the night if you put your mind to it.

We've a couple of ideas for mini workshops between now and December to help speakers who volunteer to develop their idea and practice their delivery. Plus we have Lee Jackson coming in October to inspire  everyone, give tips and remind us all of the importance of great communication skills in todays workplace.

Even if all you have is the vaguest idea, sign up now and we'll help you bring it to life. If you have multiple ideas and aren't sure which to use, that's fine we'll help you pick the right one.

Also did we mention there will be significant speaker prizes on the night.
